At its Annual General Meeting held 31 March 2021, the WRFU elected Peter Scott as a Life Member.  Peter’s major contribution to WRFU started when he became OBU’s Delegate to WRFU’s Rugby Board in the late 1990s. He went on to being the Chair, with combined service of over two decades on the Rugby Board.

Peter has been active in many initiatives for WRFU and oversaw major changes to the club competition structure, compliance issues & many other big issues facing the clubs and WRFU in very turbulent times for the sport.  Peter stepped down in 2020 from the Rugby Board but continued to serve by initiating the very successful and popular ‘Wellington Lions Numbering Project’ and continues to lead this programme today, incorporating the ‘Wellington Pride Numbers’ as well.

Congratulations Peter, this is a rare honour as there have only been 48 Life Members since the WRFU was formed in 1880.  He joins OBU’s Rhys Barlow and only 7 other WRFU Life Members active today.  This is a great reflection on the contribution Peter has made to WRFU and of course OBU over the years.
