Northern United’s premier and premier reserves matches against Poneke scheduled for Saturday 9 June were postponed on Saturday after Petone filed a complaint to Wellington Rugby surrounding Poneke fielding two ineligible players in the 2018 Swindale Shield.

The dispute was heard on Saturday morning before the Norths v Poneke matches were deferred, though no decision around Petone’s complaint was announced by the Union.

This came before Poneke filed a dispute of their own to Wellington Rugby about Petone also including an unregistered player in their Swindale Shield campaign.

Following Poneke’s dispute, Petone and Poneke agreed to both drop their complaints, seeing no repercussions for either dispute.

Old Boys University defeated Petone 19-5 in the final round of the Swindale Shield seeing Petone miss out on a 2018 Jubilee Cup berth.

A date for the Norths v Poneke premier and premier reserves matches is yet to be announced.
